Barbara is knitting

Entrelac Knitting. That is the name of this pattern that Barbara used to make this beautiful, super warm jumper. It is also called "Basket Weave" stitch but to sound like a professional knitter, I'll call it "Entrelac" :)  It took Barbara 2 years to make. She had trouble at first until she found someone from the Sutherland Shire Spinners and Weavers Guild to help her. Even though you need a pattern, it really is the sort of thing to be shown to really understand how it works. Then it is not that hard!  Barbara made all her efforts all the more worthwhile by using a good quality yarn - Japanese "novo" wool.

These cute little Christmas stockings were made by Mandy. There was no real pattern to follow so we worked it out easily enough by sharing crochet know how and made little stocking decorations until they were everywhere. Wil and Bev G made a heap! Lantern making... a craft for kids

The school holidays are nearly over. Some kids have one more week. Why not get creative and make some pretty lanterns to hang in your bedroom? (Caitlin and Ryan... if you make one and take a photo, I'll put it on the blog!) Mitred Granny Squares by Janice

A project a day! I have so many photos of lovely things which have not yet appeared here on the blog. So, I am featuring a new craft item every day for 2 weeks, all made by ladies at The Craft Group. To continue… Project 5: Mitred Granny Squares by Janice Crocheted Granny Squares are in again and, as with all come-backs, there are clever variations. These mitred* squares are eye catching and can look stunning depending on the colours used. Janice made this green one which has a lovely 3D effect made by her use of various tones of graduating greens. It looks stunning in a whole finished rug. (*also spelt 'Mitered', depending on where you live).  Janice is then working on some other squares using bright coloured stripes, giving the finished product a completely different look.
